What tol.ad is
tol.ad is a growing collection of small, single-purpose web tools, run by independent makers. Each tool does one thing and does it without making you sit through a signup form, install an app, or wait for a promotional video to finish. The first one out is a QR code and barcode generator at qr.tol.ad; more are on the way.
The site exists because almost every free tool we used to reach for has gotten worse: a generator becomes a SaaS, a converter starts demanding a login, a renderer quietly adds a watermark. The tools here are the version we wanted — free, private, and unbundled — and we’re building them out one at a time.
What every tool here promises
Instant first use
Every tool loads with a working default and a single, obvious button. No tour, no signup, no "verify your email" — open it, see something useful, ship.
Privacy by default
Where it’s feasible, the work happens in your browser. The text you type to encode, the image you upload, the password you generate — none of it travels to a server we control.
No watermarks, no expiring links
The artifact belongs to you. We don’t stamp a logo on it, we don’t route it through a redirect we own, and there’s nothing on our end that could ever stop working and take your QR codes with it.
Ads sit around the work, not inside it
The site is free because ads pay for it, but they live in the margins. They never block your output, never delay a download, and never sit inside the artifact itself.

Is this site really free?
Yes. There’s no signup, no paywall, no daily cap. Ads pay the bills. If you run an ad blocker the tools still work — we just don’t make any money from your visit.
Do you store what I type?
No. The tools run in the browser. The text you encode, the data you scan, the content you transform — none of it reaches our servers. That’s also why our hosting costs are so low we can afford to keep this free.
Are the outputs safe to use commercially?
Yes. A QR code, a barcode, or any other artifact you generate here is yours. Print it on packaging, embed it in products, hand it to clients — no licensing, no attribution, no watermark.
How do I request a new tool?
Email [email protected] with what you’d use it for. We add tools when there’s a clear, common, free-tier use case where the existing options are either paid, ad-stuffed, or both.
About the makers
tol.ad is run by an independent two-person team that ships small web utilities on the side. We don’t have a sales pipeline, we don’t do enterprise tiers, and we don’t want your email address.
